And instead of improving (wages or management) to keep locals on, they have hired temporary foreign guest workers in the past (mainly from Poland) who are just happy to be in the states with a job and only here for a season, so doubly dis-incentivized from complaining. Yes it will increase your tax base* and provide local jobs, but a lot of the ones here (may be more indicative of Penn National Gaming than anything else) are low-paying and the HR management is crappy.

I'm an hour and a half NW of DC and we've been inundated by their denizens coming in to make bad life choices. It is going to make it easier for people to lose much larger amounts of money on machines and table games than they could have just on lotto alone, and not just for knuckleheads in your area but the surrounding region, who will now come like moths to a flame.

I currently live in a racetrack/casino town (Charles Town, WV) but have been looking into East Tennessee for awhile and can tell you that bringing gambling in isn't a clear-cut win-win.
